Mothers Day

Mother’s day is a celebration in honor of all mothers. The earliest mother’s Day celebrations can be traced back to the spring celebrations in ancient Greece, during the 1600s, in honor of Rhea, the Mother of the Gods. England celebrated a day called “Mothering Sunday” on the 4th Sunday of Lent (the 40 day period leading up to Easter) to honor all the mothers of England.

During this time many of England’s poor, who worked as servants, for the wealthy lived at their employers houses because their homes were located far away from their jobs.  On mothering Sunday though, the servants would have a chance to return home, spend the day with their mothers, and eat a special mothering cake, which was often a traditional cake that added a festive touch to this special day.

Mothers’ day is a celebration in honor of all mothers. While many countries of the world celebrate their own Mother's Day at different times throughout the year, there are some countries such as Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium which also celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. Now a day, children, or anyone with a mother spend the second Sunday of May, Mothers day, doing special things for their moms to show their moms how special they are to them and how much they really love them. Whether you are poor or rich, Kurdish or Canadian, Muslim or Christian, young or old, and small or big, you can still celebrate mother’s day. All you have to do is do something special on Mothers day that you know you and your mother will enjoy together. Mothers day is very important because if you think about it mothers are a BIG part of you life. Mothers not only have jobs outside the household but they have to cook, clean, do laundry, take care of the kids, help them with they’re homework, etc.

If you think about it, without your mom you wouldn’t be where you’re right know. Without them our lives would be very difficult to face or handle. Your mom doesn’t just do the cooking cleaning, etc. but they are the ones you go to for help if you have a problem. I know that you can also see a friend or your father if you have a problem but, the thing with mothers is that they know you inside and out. They were the ones that took care of you when you were a baby; they are the ones that know everything about you because they have been with you since the beginning of your life and they’ll know what’s right for you and how you react to several things.

So, if you think about it, everyday should be mother’s day because they are a huge part of it.
