        “When Marduk commanded me
to establish justice for the people of the land
    and to provide orderly government,
I set forth truth and justice throughout the land,
and caused the people to prosper

                                          Hammurabi

While today everybody is talking about the Iraqi Constitution, it would be a good time to remember the Prince Hammurabi’s Code which contains 281 sections and is considered as a fundamental base of law in the human being’s history. The stele of Hammurabi, is a precious piece of history dates back to eighteen century before B.C when the land of Mesopotamia flourishing with great civilizations. And people between the two great historic rivers, the Tigress and Euphrates prospered in their daily life. The stele contains powerful words engraved on an eight feet high of shiny black basalt. And on the top of the codes Hammurabi stands as obeying soldier in front of king Shamas or the sun god whose curly rectangular beard cascades over his chest like strong metallic armour. He is presenting to Hammurabi the staff and ring, which symbolize the power of the law. In the modern history, most civilized nations admire the early intellectual hard work of the king Hammurabi, and it is highly been referred in their constitution and laws. The stele of Hammurabi made from a strong stone in order the Code to be protected during ups and downs of life, and that’s favoured by ordinary people when they experience and spend their life hopelessly under the tyranny. The Code is rigid and strong to tell us the statue of justice must strong and giant as the Great Wall of China, the Tower of Eiffel, and The Statue of Liberty. If Hammurabi was a live, he would surprise his diverse successors are still struggling in a try and error method to write a new constitution for Iraq. Where Kurds are the only none Semitic unlike Arabs and other ethnic groups who relate themselves directly to Hammurabi and most them are Christians. But today accepting Kurds in the political process as a potent partner the black stele of Hammurabi may reflects more colours. Especially under the bright sun in the Kurdish flag and the same sun that Hammuradi had a great respect for it. So historical prides must encourage all Iraqis to accept each other peacefully and condemn all non justice acts that happened since the establishment of Iraq. And finally Iraqis will end up with a constitution under which no nation, ethnic or religious group become another scapegoat like the Kurds. While today in the land where this great King lived writing the constitution is a big dilemma. And with continuous act of terror and insurgency life has become a nightmare in the central part of Iraq where exactly Hammurabi existed. So if people of Iraq don’t get a lesson from their long history blood shed won’t be a friendly environment. And as well if they not think and focus about the next generation’s future, also fail to establish a modern society in which all citizens are truly respected. Iraq again will sink in floods of blood and which just make pro terrors and pro Saddam’s happy not Iraqi people. So bringing federalism to Iraq will benefit all other ethnic groups. As a matter of fact Iraq will become a model of a new federal democratic system for the whole region. Despite  the slogan of federalism was a Kurdish demand in nineties as a result of long period of suppuration, but if Iraq become a real federation not only Kurds get a benefit from it. By federalism Kurds, Arabs, Turks, and Persians and all other nations in the Middle East can create remarkable modern place for living and burry all painful memories and condemn their crimes against each other. So they can have an equal role in the political process, enrich the democracy, and live peacefully and freely beside each others.
