Points that kurds must know!

   By  Ismail Ibrahim Rwandzi

With all our support  for the statement by the President of Kurdistan on Baker ـ Hamilton report, but I would like to draw the attention of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan political leadership to the following important points:

1 - That is true that the recommendations of the Baker-Hamilton detract from the political sovereignty of Kurdistan and pays no attention to the sacrifices and the hopes of the Kurdish nation, but this must not lose our patience because of some malicious and unfair recommendations by some maniacs persons and malevolent on the Kurdish people gains and this must not lead us to stoop to the front of our enemies of the Arabs chauvinistic and Islamists fascists. A year ago, in response to a question, Should the Kurdish people believe in America?, I wrote in one of my articles:  The Kurds should not ratify everything, but they must also do not reject everything, but they must accept the good intentions of the United States of America and try to interference to correct in its decisions’ tracks by dialogue if that is possible. Today, I say that the Kurds should be expressing their protest in a meaningful way. Kurds after a long struggle and great sacrifices are smarter than repeat the mistakes of the cold-war world. Our political discourse must be conscious and not emotional. The emotional reaction is not in our interest and can harm us more than help us.

2 - Even if the government of President Bush did not embrace the recommendations of the Baker-Hamilton, this report could consider warning of the dangers of the future. Kurds and Kurdish political leadership must be prepared themselves for the worst conditions, simply because the mentality who wrote this report represents a large part of the political mood of the American people and political elite. I believe that the American Democratic Party, which is expected to win the forthcoming presidential elections, one of the strongest proponents of this report and this means that the Kurds could face difficult and dangerous political situations in the future.

3 – Today, we see that the Russians, who have a desire to dispute the Americans everywhere to respond to the tragic losses in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, already is trying to return to the Middle East through troubled areas. In my mind, they are playing a negative role and a troublemaker in Iraq, Lebanon and Sudan. Russia as a permanent member of the Security Council is so far behind building the Iranian nuclear threat to the region and I believe that, together with China very candid so unyielding sanctions by the Security Council on Iran and Syria, and they have mysterious positions of the political process in Iraq. I think that the Russians, to some extent China, do not see the interest in a calm Iraqi front. Therefore most probably are, at least morally, aiding the formation of the regional media and the continuation of terrorist groups, which called Iraqi resistance. Region appears to be about to be repeated time of the Cold War between Moscow and Washington. In the past, the superpowers fought in our region through the internal wars and internal strife, therefore, we do not wish to return balance polar region, because restoring balance means increasing tension within the enticements that the balance of forces outside the region. If the balance would mean the democratization of the countries of the region, the positive balance was given the opportunity to build the region, but the building alliances and the price often been bargaining and will be on the land of Kurdistan and the rights of the Kurdish nation. The question here is: What is the relationship between the Kurds and all the changes in the balance of power in region? I think that the Baker-Hamilton report could be an example for us to know  that how can change the balance of power dramatically so threatens all political gains, therefore Kurdish political leadership must be taken into account the emergence of new forces in the region and build strategic relationships with them within the Kurdistan National Standards. Kurds must not antagonize any party to other parties and without reason.
